Sadly, for a variety of reasons, production of all too many wonderful Scotch Whiskies has ceased in the last half-century.<\/span><\/h3>\n<\/div>

Bottlings of some lost whiskies are released from time to time, usually by independent bottlers such as Skene Scotch Whisky. However, for the rarest \u2018ghost whiskies\u2019, the only real way to obtain a bottle is via a specialist whisky auction.<\/p>\n

Unsurprisingly, lost Scotch bottlings are highly collectible, so prices are forever rising.<\/p>\n

What follows, in Sections 1 to 4 below, is a reference list of all the last half-century\u2019s lost Scotch Whiskies. (The closed pilot Deeside Distillery had been excluded, as its whisky has yet to be bottled.)<\/p>\n

Should more information be required, Brian Townsend\u2019s \u201cScotch Missed\u201d book (4th Edition) comes very highly recommended. It is the original guide to the lost distilleries of Scotland.<\/p>\n

Also, Skene Scotch Whisky will happily provide additional background on any lost Scotch Whiskies which it is lucky enough to bottle in the future.<\/p>\n
