| Macallan distillery is near Easter Elchies in Morayshire, Scotland. Capacity is 15 million litres.
It was founded in 1824. In terms of value, Macallan is the best selling single malt whisky (it is number three in terms of volume). Macallan whiskies are highly sought after by drinkers, collectors and investors alike. The distillery is owned by Edrington Group. |
When Macallan assumed the responsibility for their own bottlings from Campbell, Hope & King in 1980, they inherited both 8 and 12 year old age-statement release, quickly adding a new 10 year old was a popular edition for many years, but was eventually discontinued in 2013. |
